OCS Elementary 4-6 Campus to Participate in 'Lincoln in the Land of Bluegrass'

"Lincoln in the Land of Bluegrass" musical on February 12 with one free show at 9 am for school children and another show at 7 PM for the general public at RiverPark Center's Cannon Hall ($5 adults, $3 students, at the door) to support not only the bluegrass museum but also this ambitious and creative community collaboration celebrating the life of one great native Kentuckian - Abe Lincoln - set to music in the style created by another great native Kentuckian, Bill Monroe.

This is our history set to the music of our culture -- created, composed, and performed by community residents of all ages. Over 300 students at three local schools -- Catholic Elementary 4-6 Campus (representing Catholic schools), Newton Parrish (representing City Schools), and Country Heights (representing County schools) wrote some of the songs and will be performing their original creations in the production. Students from Foust have created choreography for the finale and will dance it, as well, with vast energy.

Kevin Thompson and Emily Wills, both from OCMS, are also part of the production.

The musical will be highlighted with an Abraham Lincoln Exhibit on loan (for that day only) from the KY Historical Society, installed in the lobby of RiverPark Center.

Also performing are Theatre Workshop of Owensboro actors, Randy Lanham's Bluegrass Band and Barry Lanham's Foot Stompin' Express clogging troupe.
