Leadership in the Face of Fads!
In a world where society pushes our teens to follow the latest and greatest fad, or the “it” person, it refreshes the spirit to see one of our students doing everything she can to encourage those around her to do just the opposite!
Being a strong leader with a strong voice in not always the popular choice, but Jenna Ruth is that type of leader. If you have ever had any experience with the “middle school years” of a teen, you know the many changes they go through, both physically and emotionally. Jenna works hard at giving those around her a living example of how to navigate these many changes with the proper attitude.
She serves as Treasurer of the OCMS Beta Club whose 4 pillars are academics, service, leadership and character. She is also Student Council Representative. She is an active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and earned enough service hours to travel to Washington, D.C. for the Right to Life march. She is a member of the Blessed Mother Youth Group and sings in the Worship choir at OCMS Masses. She also earns a place on our OCMS Honor Roll each quarter. And she plays softball for OCHS.
One of Jenna’s teachers, Julie Renshaw, commented recently that Jenna “excels in the classroom, always preparing for tests (and earning high marks) and always doing her homework. She takes part in every service project we do at OCMS, and she encourages others to do their best. She is truly an example of Christian service in word and deed.
Jenna is “an amazing leader in Beta Club” according to the club sponsor, Mary Cheshire. Mary also said “Jenna works hard with our service projects, and after we brought in 7th graders, she was great at encouraging them and helping them learn the ropes. She is a very polite young lady who is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Jenna is the daughter of John and Sheri Ruth.
