Community Campus to offer High School/Workforce-Aligned Academies

Class of 2012/2013 students and parents invited to Information Night

6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 29, at Blandford Auditorium on the main campus of Owensboro Community and Technical College, 4800 New Hartford Road

Parents and high school students (classes of 2012/2013) are invited to attend an information meeting at 6:30 p.m. November 29 at Blandford Auditorium on the OCTC campus to learn about this innovative idea to transform high schools in our region!

"Community Campus" is a model of what high schools across the nation may look like in the very near future and the future starts NOW for our kids!

Leaders from regional school districts, including Daviess County Public Schools, Owensboro Public Schools, Owensboro Catholic Schools and Hancock County Public Schools, will join representatives from Owensboro Community and Technical College and economic development officials, regional employers and community leaders to unveil the Community Campus program. This innovative high school model will create five workforce-aligned academies designed to provide students with a personalized learning experience that goes far beyond the walls of a classroom or the traditional "school day." The Community Campus concept allows students to embrace learning across the community, facilitated by practicing professionals.

Students will have the opportunity to explore their areas of interest, their passions and skills in this revolutionary education experience that unifies high school and college. Academies focus on entrepreneurship/business; life science; science technology and engineering; construction, trade and energy; and the arts.

The future is here and it starts with YOU. Mark your calendar and plan to attend this important meeting! For more information, contact Stacy Edds-Ellis at stacy.edds@kctcs.edu
