Great Backyard Bird Count - Elementary 4-6 Campus After School Program
Fourth graders in the Extended School Day Program at Owensboro Catholic Elementary 4-6 Campus learned to identify some common birds in Owensboro area for the 14th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count which was held nationwide February 18-21.
They studied photos of different birds, listened to bird calls, watched a short film of backyard bird watching, enjoyed a gummy worm, and had a great time on a Friday afternoon with Daviess County Audubon Society volunteer Winny Lin. The national bird count, co-sponsored by the Cornell University School of Ornithology and the National Audubon Society, provides data for scientists.
