Lent at the Elementary K-3 Campus
Often for Lent we begin to think of what we are going to "give up." At the K-3 Campus we prefer to focus on what we can "give." We will be teaching the children about the importance of making little sacrifices and doing small acts of kindness for others all throughout the season of Lent.
Each student will be bringing home a template with footprints. Students will be encouraged to do small acts of kindness or sacrifices at home, and then fill out the form showing what they did for the week and return it to their teacher by Friday.
Each class will have a larger "footprint" in the cafeteria, and as the students do those little acts of kindness, we will move their class footprint on our path toward Easter.
This will be our gift to Jesus to thank Him for filling our lives with hope by his sacrificial death on the cross. We are using our good deeds and sacrifices to console Jesus on his journey to the cross.
We will also begin each morning with a meditation over the intercom retelling the story of Jesus' journey to the cross. You will see the story unfolding each day as we hang pictures in the hallway outside of the office.
In addition- all classes will go over to the church every week to pray the Stations of the Cross, and teachers will have different activities and lessons to teach children about the meaning of Lent and how it prepares us for the great celebration of Easter and Jesus' Resurrection.
