Director's Corner - Pertussis (Whooping Cough)

Earlier this week it was confirmed that one of our children at the K-3 Campus was recently diagnosed with Pertussis, or Whooping Cough.

Sherry Krampe, the OCS Student Health Coordinator, contacted Janie Cambron, Regional Epidemiologist, at the Green River District Health Department. Janie was incredibly helpful in developing an appropriate communication plan concerning this contagious disease with our families and staff.

A letter from the Green River District Health Department was sent home to the parents of those with students at the K-3 Campus. Attached to this Director's Corner message is an information sheet on Pertussis that she asked that we send to all OCS families. I encourage you to review the sheet carefully. If there are questions, do not hesitate to contact Janie at the Green River District Health Department or your doctor.

As is stated on the information sheet, this information is not meant to alarm you, but rather for you to be educated on and be watchful of any symptoms associated with this disease. We are thankful to the Green River District Health Department for their help and support.

I appreciate all you do to help us fulfill our mission to provide excellence in faith formation and academics in a Christ-centered environment. As always, your comments and insights are important to me. I can be reached via phone at 852-8028 and email at ken.rasp@owensborocatholic.org .

God's Peace!
