Important SCRIP Updates for OCS Families

You may not be aware, but recent IRS changes have required us to change the way we operate our SCRIP SUCCE$$ program. Volunteers are still needed in order to comply with the changes. If you can volunteer for a couple of hours or for a day, we need your help! Contact Janet Kase at 852-8033 to volunteer.

The following changes are being implemented in order to streamline our processes so volunteers have an easier time helping us run the program.

Beginning in October, we discontinued the practice of making copies of all cards/certificates. Customers now simply initial the order form agreeing that they have received their order correctly.

What does this mean for you?

Now just as always, you need to treat your SCRIP just like cash. So, if you lose it, you are out that money.

If you are at a retailer and have a gift card you know has money on it, and they tell you it doesn’t, call the 800 number immediately; do not leave the store! The number called can give your balance, and may be able to provide additional information.

Beginning in January, all walk in orders will be entered in SCRIPWARE. Customers will place their order from a “menu”; the order will be inputted, and filled from the receipt printed for the customer. This eliminates the need for data entry at a later time.

What does this mean for you?

Once implemented, you won’t have to fill out an order form, you’ll simply place your order, streamlining the amount of time you spend at the SCRIP office and allowing us to streamline our data entry procedures.

It's Here - The Owensboro Catholic Schools App on iTunes

It's here! The Owensboro Catholic Schools are proud to announce - an App is now available on iTunes - free for the download! We are the first school/school system in the state to offer an App. Get it today and stay informed!

The Owensboro Catholic Schools App keeps users informed with the latest news and reminders from the school system, so they can be sure to know about meetings, parent-teacher conferences and the most up to-date news items. A school calendar provides a convenient way to plan for upcoming events and an athletics calendar will make sure fans know about every contest the Aces take on. An interactive map marks the locations of each school and athletic venue in the school system. The App also delivers the faculty directory so that students or parents can email teachers on the go.

In addition, the App integrates with the school system's Facebook and Twitter pages and gives users to option to receive Facebook status updates as alerts on their devices.
"We wanted a way to connect to our families and give them something useful," said Karen Gross, Marketing/Enrollment Specialist for Owensboro Catholic Schools. "This App lets us directly communicate with our students, parents and teachers with the goal of increasing their involvement and enriching the overall educational experience for our students."

The Owensboro Catholic Schools App is available on iTunes.

SCRIP SUCCE$$ Open During Fall Break - Normal Hours

The SCRIP Office will be open during Fall Break during regular hours of 8 am - 5 pm.

Effective Immediately the SCRIP office will no longer be making copies of your order.

So what does this mean for you?

A couple of things! First, it means the time you spend in the SCRIP office will be reduced. Secondly, it means that now just as before, you must treat all cards and certificates as cash. If you lose it, we cannot replace it.

When presenting a card at a retailer, if they hand it back to you and tell you that it has "no money on it", and you know it does, you need to call the 800 number on the back of the card before leaving the store. The automated operator will then direct you through a menu of options, including checking the card balance.

We are making this change in order to streamline all we do in the SCRIP office and will continue to make changes throughout the year. We are required by law to have the SCRIP program operate with a majority of volunteer hours and these changes are helping us to accomplish those requirements.

Also, ShopwithScrip online continues to grow as more and more people learn about it and the advantages it offers. If you have not registered for an account, contact Melba or Janet at 852-8033. To check your balance, simply log on to the website and enter your secure name and password.

Please Note: Your balance will be as current as possible, but there will be lag time in posting. We continue working on the Kroger reports and inputting them into our new tracking system. The Kroger rebates, listed as vouchers under your family account, will be updated as quickly as possible.
