OCHS Junior Achievement
For the seventh consecutive school year, UniFirst Corporation partnered with Owensboro Catholic High School (OCHS) for the Junior Achievement (JA) Program, JA Titan. JA Titan, an interactive web-based business simulation, introduces students to critical economics and management decisions.
Through this partnership, UniFirst Corporation provides both the financial and volunteer resources needed to supply the JA Titan program to five economics classrooms reaching all of the school's sophomore classes. During these sessions, volunteers covered topics such as how to develop a management team, how to establish the product price, how to incorporate marketing/research and development strategies, how to increase product demand as well as other important business tools. In each classroom, students were assigned to groups to form companies, who then competed among other student companies in their individual classrooms to see which team could obtain the best performance index percentage. The competition concluded once all teams submitted business reports for 30 simulated business quarters.
UniFirst employees who also served as JA volunteers included: Courtney Atherton, Amanda Billingsley, Laurie Castlen, Denise Jarboe, Jenni Long, Jacob McKay, Dave Roberts and David Rudd. The program volunteers were coordinated by Amanda Billingsley.

Owensboro Catholic Schools Now Available on the Google Play store
Friends of Owensboro Catholic Schools now have a valuable resource at their fingertips on another mobile platform. The Owensboro Catholic Schools App is available for free download on the Google Play store for the Droid market.
The school system developed the OCS App with Red Pixel Studios of Owensboro so students, parents and teachers can get information wit h a few flicks of their finger. OCS released its iPhone app in October 2010. Now its app is available for the Droid users.
The App enables users to stay informed about all the activities surrounding Owensboro Catholic Schools. The app is the same format as the iPhone app with a school directory, news, facebook and twitter feeds along with maps and school and athletic calendars.
A product of Red Pixel Studio’s RPS | infoApp solution, the Owensboro Catholic Schools App keeps users informed with the latest news and reminders from the school system, so they can be sure to know about meetings, athletic events and the most up to-date news items.
“Once again, we are meeting the needs of our parents and families by reaching out to all the mobile platforms. With the growth of the smartphones and tablets, we want to make this available for everyone.” said Karen Gross, Marketing/Enrollment Specialist for Owensboro Catholic Schools. “The iPhone app has been incredibly popular by providing the most up to date information for our families and students.”

Nominations for next years Elementary PTO Executive Board have already begun, and will continue until April 25!
